How did you become interested in event planning and coordination?
When I married my husband (a Pastor) and he officiated at weddings, I would go with him to see what the other couples were doing for their weddings! During those early years, couples asked me to help with different elements of the ceremony coordination. Doing more and more of this made me realize that couples do really enjoy having (and also need!) a coordinator to help make their wedding ceremony as stress- free as possible! Having done this informally for many years, I decided to start my own professional corporate and social event and wedding planning and coordination business – Events by Lexi was born in the fall of 2009, and it’s been so much fun, full of much laughter and hard work! Working with hosts of meetings and/or couples getting married is something I LOVE to do and making a living at it is icing on the cake!
Earlier in my career, I worked for an HR consulting firm headquartered in Washington, DC, for which I coordinated corporate seminars and workshops, as well as the company picnics. Since moving to Westminster, I have had jobs which required me to plan and coordinate special events including annual meetings, volunteer recognition events, etc. Being tasked with the details of the corporate events for the busy professionals with whom I have worked has been a fascinating experience, which has led me to enjoy event coordination in the corporate world.
Over the last 20+ years, I have coordinated weddings and events for as few as 15 or as many as 300 people, and I have also coordinated seminars in multiple locations.
Giving back to my community is important and I have volunteered my services at large fundraising events in Carroll County – such as the Rape Crisis Intervention Services’ “A Culinary Experience” event and the Marriage Relationship and Education Center’s Celebrate Marriage gala.
Benefits of working with Events by Lexi include years of professional experience, the ability to adapt to any situation that may arise, and the ability to take care of any hiccups that may occur such as a couple unexpectedly bringing their children to your wedding!
